Three's a crowd came into existence in 2005 when Leslie got an idea about showing the lives of three characters in a threesome relationship. Leslie wanted an unconventional threesome like no one has seem before. There, Marc, Brian and Janice were born.
Leslie wanted to show the drama of maintaining a threesome relationship and the obstacles that could threaten it.
She wanted to make the characters believable and ordinary as possible. They talk like real people, act like real people, and have real problems like real people. Leslie found herself falling in love with the characters and the story of TAC.
After revising a re-releasing the original novel, Leslie realized that many readers would want much more of the crowd after the novel was over. With that in mind, Leslie began writing the rest of the story of the crowd.

Marc, Brian and Janice are created from bits and pieces of Leslie Lee Sanders. Without referring to the sexuality in the story, their personalities are reminiscent of Leslie's own personality.
Marc has the sensitive, worried, anxious, careful personality that Leslie sometimes share. This personality has it's pros and cons, but it's perfect for seeing both sides of a situation and being careful to avoid any possible danger.
Brian has a confident, assertive, forward, open, positive personality that Leslie shares as well. This personality type is perfect for leading and making decisions. There's more pros than cons, making this personality type a great balance for Marc's personality.
Janice has the sweet, caring, bashful, creative, loving, nurturing personality that Leslie has as well. This type of personality is good for balancing out the ying of Marc and the yang of Brian. With this personality, Janice can make sure they see the important things in life like love, trust, and companionship.
With this kind of triad, they all compliment each other and can help each other through anything, making a strong bond in the process.
